Warning: The grammar in this book is bad on purpose.With that said, of course this doesn't appeal to everyone, but it is a wonderful resource. A non-fiction book as funny as this doesn't come along everyday. In typical post-90's Bandler style, this one portrays him as a slightly neurotic and over-the-top character who really challenges you and motivates you to really get out there and "just do it." You may find him unlikable and disagreeable, but you love him anyways, and that's really the proof that what he discusses works on some level.I disagree with all of the reviewers who say that this book is light on tips. There are at least seven decidedly unique strategies that you can use on your clients based on what was said in this book. Small things, yes, and some are very specific, but they're still in there to use.I found Persuasion Engineering to be a wealth of information, not because of the methods he teaches (most of which are more than a little outrageous and probably not practical), but because of the way in which they are taught. I think that the point of the way that they taught this course was to go overboard in hopes that you would meet them halfway. And if you go just halfway, you'll really change the way you do your job.Excellent. Get it.

His style is certainly unorthodox, but it is effective. I think one of the greatest learnings one can take away from this book is that you are not selling a product or service, but you are selling feelings. Tie those feelings to your product and you will make sales.Some notes:- He has very few lists of actions to do (he does list them in the back, but they are not tied into the main part of the book very well). That being said, make your own notes as that will likely be more effective anyway- True, not really any typos, but that is the ambiguity he is trying to convey to the reader (and ultimately to your own ability to use ambiguity).- He is being a bit outrageous, but that also is funny. It is a bit of a warped sense of humor, but I like it a lot. Should you really dress up as a priest to sell cars? No, but he is pushing the boundaries to show there really are no boundaries.- Formal NLP training not required, but maybe a crash course in it would help, mostly with the vocabulary

This book will not only teach you to persuade, it will also persuade you to do so with more confidence and power without asking you to do anything unethical. I have a much deeper understanding of language and communication know than ever before. Get this book and if you have the chance attend one of their seminars. It will be money well spent.

Great book....one of the best sales as well as life primers I can think of. Some may find his writing style (conversational) difficult to follow, but the content is amazing. I also recommend "Frogs to Princes"....

As the title of this review proofs: I have read this book and understand what they are talking about. And indeed they are talking. I had to get used to this kind of writing, but there it is. The writers however do warn you about that: " While it may seem that some of the sentence structures in this book read as grammatically incorrect, they are written for a purpose, as NLP and grammar do not necessarily share the same structure". This book is great fun to read and you can tell by just reading it that the writers had a lot of fun writing it. The picture of Bandler on the inside cover tells it all. So, if your in the business of selling something (and who isn't these days) buy the book, its good fun. It does help when you love cars and are on the verge of buying, or selling one!

This book helps you understand body language and can help change the way you view people

This book has so many good ideas that I would have never dreamt up on my own. Richard Bandler is very creative and this book has certainly given me much to think about and create on my own. There are parts of the book where he sort of rambles on, but you just need to push through it because the ultimate message is very powerful. About the Author

Richard T. Wright is Professor Emeritus of Biology at Gordon College in Massachusetts, where he taught environmental science for 28 years. He earned a B.A. from Rutgers University and a M.A. and Ph.D. in biology from Harvard University. For many years Wright received grant support from the National Science Foundation for his work in marine microbiology, and in 1981, he was a founding faculty member of Au Sable Institute of Environmental Studies in Michigan, where he also served as Academic Chairman for 11 years. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Au Sable Institute, and the American Association for the Advancement Scientific Affiliation. In 1996, Wright was appointed a Fulbright Scholar to Daystar University in Kenya, where he taught for two months. He is a member of many environmental organizations, including The Nature Conservancy, Habitat for Humanity, the Union of Concerned Scientists, the Audubon Society, and a supporting member of the Trustees of Reservations. Wright continues to be actively involved in writing and speaking about the environment. He and his wife Ann recently moved to Byfield, Massachusetts, and they drive a Toyota Camry hybrid vehicle as a means of reducing their environmental impact. Wright spends his spare time hiking, fishing, golfing, and enjoying his three children and seven grandchildren.   Dorothy F. Boorse is an associate professor of biology at Gordon College, in Wenham Massachusetts. Her research interest is in drying wetlands such as vernal pools and prairie potholes, and in salt marshes. Her research with undergraduates has included wetland and invasive species projects. She earned a BS in biology from Gordon College, a MS in entomology from Cornell University, and a PhD in oceanography and limnology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Boorse teaches, writes, and speaks about biology, the environment, and care of creation. An essay she wrote on climate change was recently published in a book by the Union of Concerned Scientists and Penguin Press. In 2005 Boorse provided expert testimony on wildlife corridors and environmental ethics for a congressional House subcommittee hearing.   Boorse is a member of a number of ecological and environmental societies including The Ecological Society of America, the Society of Wetland Scientists, the Nature Conservancy, The Audubon Society, The New England Wildflower Society, and the Trustees of Reservations (the oldest land conservancy group in the United States). She and her family live in Beverly Massachusetts. She and her family belong to Appleton farms, a CSA community supported agriculture farm. They are also members of a newly established community supported fishery, Cape Ann Fresh Catch. At home Boorse has a native plant garden and has recently planted two disease resistant elm trees.

If you are looking to get this book for the Instructor's Edition, don't bother. The cover may say it is an Instructor's Edition, but the inside is identical to the student book. There are no answers to any questions, no helps, teaching aids, or anything that could remotely be considered of value to an instructor that is not in the student text. If you are looking for an inexpensive copy of the student text, this is the way to go.

I use this to teach Environmental Science to my Chinese student at Northwest University in Xian. This textbook is technical enough to be a viable classroom text, yet readable and interesting enough to hold the attention of all students of different abilities, including ESL learners. Every human being needs to know just how badly our earth is being damaged, and take part in reversing the trend of unsustainable systems that pollute and destroy the only ecosphere known in the universe; planet Earth. Well-recommended among the plethora of Environmental Science textbooks today.

Arrived in very good condition and faster than expected. Book is a good introduction to environmental studies and gives a good over-view of the ecology and the study of environmental issues. It outlines the concerns of the present with our over-usage of resources, our throw-away society, and the growing problems with pollution. It also covers some of the work being done to find other ways of managing our needs and balancing our demands with the needs of the planet.

Had to take intro into environmental science and the book was for 120 dollars, rented it for the semester for only 20!Clean new book, very helpful!

This book is thorough, and is fun to read, easy learning by being easy to follow

Not particularly well-written. Gets the job done but I didn't enjoy reading it like I normally enjoy textbooks. It should be more pleasant to read given that the information is not really advanced or technical.

Easy to read, great book for learning about our environment

The only criticism I have of this book is there is too much interesting information. Its difficult to figure out what your professor wants you to study when there is so much information. Great read though and gives for good explanations of the material it focuses on.
